Only Two Days to Go! - Santa Maria al Castello to St. Agata/Torca

So, today we are making our way closer to the end of the peninsula.  We are heading for the villages of Torca and St. Agata where we will bunk into our last Agriturismo,  Le Tore.  Another picture perfect day today.  Although it was hot today, it was not as humid as previous days.  We experienced high winds last night which kept us up for most of the night as the shutters at our B&B were continually banging against the walls,  but they also swept away a lot of the humidity. We were prepared for a difficult hike today as the trail guidance warned us of many tricky spots along the way.  In fact, it was quite straightforward with only one difficult to find area.  We made it to our destination in a little over 6 hours, with an nice lunch stop at a castle and a terrific Gelato stop in the village of Colli di Fontanelle.   This evening, our Agriturismo prepared a great 3 course dinner of ingredients all from their farm, even the w...

Day One.....A REALLY LONG DAY!

Well, our first day of of hiking has finally arrived.  The weather looks great albeit a bit hotter than we'd like with anticipated temperatures in the 90s. As with every hike....how to find the starting point...not usually as easy as you think and after a few missed starts and a bit of local help, we located the Abbey that was our starting point and we were off! We are ready to go! Second Hike-Up and Over!

The start of another beautiful day on the Amalfi coast and we all met for a terrific breakfast outside on the terrace of our B&B.  Our scarred and tired legs from the first day's walk were healed and we were ready for another day on the trails.  We were heading to St. Lazzaro tonight, just outside of the town of Amalfi.  Before reaching the trails, we had an hour walk through the vineyards of Tramonti to find our trailhead.  It was a little easier to find our starting point today but once we started we encountered one of the roughest, unmaintained, grown-over trails we have seen on any of our hikes.  Some of the trails were almost impassable and we were wishing we had brought a Machete along to cut our way through.  In order to reach our destination today, we first had to climb to the top of Mt.
