Pro-Blogue.....Getting Hyped!

ALTA VIA DEI MONTI LATTARI

Well, we are busy getting ready for our 8th annual long distance hike.  We started this tradition with the Coast to Coast in England, followed by The Ring of Kerry, The West Highland Way, Offa's Dyke, The Thames Path, The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, The Picos Mountains of Spain and now The Alta Via dei Monti Lattari in Italy.  In total we have clocked well over 1500 kms. on these hikes.

Once again we have the usual gang:  Heather, Shelagh, Cathy, Don, Pete and this year Susan (Heather's sister) is joining us for the trek.  I sure hope she has been training....for the eating and drinking parts at least.

Replenishing fluids and resting with our wheels up in South Carolina a few days before the hike begins.

A map indicating our stopping points along the Alta Via

Looking at the map, we will all arrive in Salerno and make our way west through the mountains reaching the highest points of the Sorrento peninsula and ending in Punta Campenella, the very western point of the peninsula.  We  won't spend all our time trekking through the mountains however.  We plan to take day trips into Pompeii, Mt. Vesuvius, Amalfi and Positano along the way.  This is a holiday after all.

Well, all the arrangements are made and final packing is taking place.  The group is arriving into Naples Italy on Thursday morning, arriving on 5 different flights from various locations.  I hope this plan all comes together!!!!!

So stay tuned..........
