WELL, IT ALL STARTED OUT RATHER ITALIAN......

Today we are off to Italy!!  How could that not be anything but fantastic......well.....

Things started while sitting in the Atlanta airport enjoying a great lunch and bevi at our favourite airport restaurant "One Flew South."  I get a ping from our driver for transport from Naples airport to our hotel in Salerno.  He would be there to meet us at 11:00am... What!  We don't arrive until 11:30 and the rest of our gang until 1:00pm.  Several yes and no what's app later, we resolve the issue...

Next stop Paris Charles de Gaulle  airport....always an adventure.  Here we are meeting Susan coming in from Detroit.....nope....she was a no show.  Stop three...Naples where we are to rendezvous with Shelagh, Pete and Cathy.  Shelagh...check...Pete...check...Cathy...another no show.

So, the four of us hop onto a massive van and head for Salerno to check in and figure out how and when the rest will arrive.  Susan makes her way to the hotel by 8:00pm, sans luggage however but poor Cathy, after enduring an entire day at the Frankfurt airport, and finally arrives at the B&B at 2:00am...she is still sleeping!

So....once again.....it all started out rather Italian!

Much needed fluids.

A first walk through the old town of Salerno

Yummy.....

The Duomo

A view from the balcony of our B&B balcony

The Salerno Waterfront.  You can see our next day's village, Corpo de' Terreni,  in the hills just across the water .

Guess we missed the big Ice Cream Party in January.

The gang meeting after coffee for a selfie at the waterfront.  Pete was still sleeping.

Long, 3 bottle lunch in Salerno!  Thankfully not a hiking day today.

And of course, every Italian lunch must finish with limoncello, meloncello and Grappa.  Whoa, Siesta time, here we come!

Off to our first hotel up in the village of Corpo de' Tirreni and a first view of the mountains we'll be hiking.

Wedding party at our hotel.  Should be a good party to crash tonight!!

Heather's first hat purchase!  Ciao Belle!

Well, it's been an eventful first day.  We have our crew here complete but  still waiting for Susan's bags to arrive tonight, we hope!  Now it's time  to prepare for Aperitivo; followed shortly by dinner at our hotel.  Until tomorrow!
